Kelly & Jonathan: Lexington Wedding Photography

Kelly and I clicked from the beginning.  She had this grand vision of what she wanted her wedding to be and I could totally see what she meant - and I loved it!  The ceremony and reception was at the Lexington Opera House - and it was absolutely beautiful.  Her vision came together perfectly. She was absolutely beautiful, Jonathan looked awesome, and it turned out to be such a fun and amazing day. One thing that was cool about her wedding - the food, the band, the cake, - everything but the photographers - was contributed by their families/friends!  How cool is that?  It was truly a family and friend affair, which means even more to us that they would ask us to be apart and capture their amazing day.  Thanks again Kelly and Jonathan.

What a fantastic couple and an amazing night!!

Gabe at a Wedding

I just finished editing a wedding. Boy, is that a good feeling. Wedding editing tends to add up in the summertime. Finish one, add on another. When I complete one of my dear couples' weddings, I do a happy dance. Not at all unlike the one in the post below.  While editing the wedding I just finished (Tashina and Josh!), I stumbled upon a few pictures of Gabe, the other half of our husband/wife photography team. When I dove further into the wedding business four years ago, I started hearing about these husband/wife photography teams. Seemed like the perfect job. You get up together, have a big breakfast together (carb up!), load up the car together, give each other a pre-wedding pep talk, photograph a lovely couple, sample the cake (we get two flavors and share), Cha-cha slide together, and go home together. I fell in love with this idea and hoped that someday I would share my awesome job with my husband. I hadn't even met Gabe yet.

And now, here we are. The end of the 2009 season I shyly asked Gabe if he would like to assist me at a wedding. He said yes. I threw a camera in his hands and turns out, he loves shooting. And after a lot of practice, he is darn good at it.

I am so blessed.

Josh & Jess: Destination Wedding: California!

You could say that the location of this wedding made it fabulous.  Or perhaps the details.  But really, it is the bride and the groom and that they are finally Mr. & Mrs. Josh's friends told us (during their toasts) stories about the fun they've had as Josh's roommates.  They reminisced about college antics and late night studying.  The highlight of the toast was when they mentioned Jess: how she lights up Josh's eyes and how they've never seen anyone as persistent as Josh.  It took a lot of patience for him to wait for the "yes" to a first date, that lead to the "yes" becoming boyfriend/girlfriend, that lead to the "yes' to a proposal.

Megan's sister told us a few childhood stories and even showed us a clip from their pigtail days in which Jess denies even Disneyland prince a hug (I think it was Eric).   "She was choosy even at eight," Megan said.  Jess had always been slow to change and determined to make wise decisions.  That is how she knows Josh is right.  She sees how happy her sister is with him and special he makes her feel.  "And she even married a guy with the same last name."  (She went from Tabor to Taber!)

The wedding was gorgeous.  It was held at Highland Springs Resort in Hemet, CA.  Josh and Jess had a vision for their day and boy, did they carry it through to the end. It was our pleasure to photograph it all!

Josh and Jess, we had a great time with you and your awesome family.  Congratulations!

Josh and Jess' wedding had a whimsical, mountain feel to it.  Every detail was hand crafted with a lot of thought and vision!  It sure worked!

Gabe grabbed this shot of Josh as he read Jess' letter.  Awesome!  These shots are a big part of why I love wedding photography.  I love getting the action and emotion of the day.  These moments never happen again and it is such a joy to give them to our brides and grooms.  Gabe is catching on quite nicely.

And they are ready to go!

Jess' dog, Buster was the ringbearer.  It was great.  His paws guarded the rings well.

Love these shots below.

Hello California light.  Thanks for being my friend.
