Allison & Jonathan: Lexington Engagements

I tend to leave the second "E" out of engagements.  I've never been the best typist.  In middle school, when I first took a typing class, I spent most of the class time working on pictures created out of letters (see Pam Beesley's example below).  Figures I'd become a photographer. Check out this cute couple below!  Allie is a friend of a friend (shout out to Jane) and she sure looks good in front of the camera.  Jonathan's not too shabby either.  Allie and Jonathan are high school sweethearts.  She needed a prom date, he was the lucky guy to take her.  Prom went well.  So well that they dated long distance for the next five years.  Soon they will be Mr and Mrs and I am so glad we are part of the day!

During the wardrobe change Gabe decided to take a few nature shots.  This is my favorite.

Erin & David: Lexington Engagements

Erin and David are one of those couples that every time we see them we say, "Man, we are glad they booked us!"  Gabe and I have so much fun with them, they feel like old friends to us.  To top it off, their wedding will be my 100th!  Can you believe it?! I love Erin and David's love.  They are perfect together.

I hopped on the fence for a high angle.  Shout out to my ten year old Nikes.  They are looking rough but they are may favorite shooting shoes.

Eeyore thistles!

Rachel and Matt: Georgetown Engagement Session

It is late on Saturday night.  Usually I am on the couch, recovering from a wedding on Saturday night.  But we didn't have one this weekend.  And yet, I still have weddings on the brain.  So I edit.  Gabe and I saw Thor tonight.  I enjoyed it more that I thought I would.  I thought it was quite funny and I always like seeing Anthony Hopkins, especially as a one-eyed god/king.  It seems that lots of gods either are one-eyed and/or seven feet tall and blonde.  Such was the case in Thor.  Three stars for me.  I am a fan of the comic book movies... after Gabe explains what is going on and as long as I have a bag of Raisinettes by my side. Rachel and Matt are a fun and lovely couple.  It didn't take much to get these two to smile in front of the camera.  They were already so happy.  Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that they are getting married!  I had the privilege of shooting at Evans Orchard, Rachel's family farm.  It provided a lot of colorful backdrops and even a couple of goats.  I want to go apple-picking there in the fall.

Practice Makes Perfect...one of these days.

It's true.  You have to practice to get better at anything.  This little truth lays claim to many areas of my life: frying eggs, downward facing dogs, Donkey Kong, and especially photography.  I can't just let my camera get dusty.  Especially as wedding season kicks into high gear.  Plus,  I love experimenting with new light and angles.  I got a chance to do so a few weeks ago. I am part of a group of Kentucky photographers who get together once a month to chat about our businesses and share experiences with one another.  Last month, we had a practice shoot.  Susannah was gracious enough to contact several couples who were willing to model for us.

Here are a few of my shots.
