Kerry and Chris: Lexington Engagement Photography

I walked away a from this shoot a happy camper.  Why? 1. Kerry and Chris are the sweetest couple.  We love that they are fun-lovin', animal-lovin' people with a lot of class!

2. We shot in two beautiful locations (here and here).

3. I wanted a pony afterward.  I know, 20 years later.

4. I knew we were headed here and here after the shoot.  I have a weakness for embellished tees and brownie batter yogurt these days.

Enjoy these pictures.  Kerry and Chris, we are looking forward to your beautiful October wedding.

We began the shoot at the fabulous Spindletop Hall.  Gorgeous. And the staff is so nice!

Kerry and Chris are stunning and classy in front of the camera.  Also, shout out to the natural light!

Oh, the romance.  Shout out to lamp light!

We shot at Ancient Oak Farm after Spindletop. Here we met Mosby, the kind and adoring dog, and Arlo, the gentle and shy horse.

Family portrait!

Gabe grabbed a couple of me.  Shootsac promo!

Emily and Ben: Lexington Engagement Photography

Three dogs + two people in love + one photographer = a good time (at Talon Winery)!  Emily and Ben were one of my fall couples but decided to get married on a cruise ship instead.  Even though we can't go on the cruise,  I think this is awesome!  It is so many wonderful things rolled into one: fun, sun, vacation, nuptials, friends, etc.  I am so glad I got to work with them at least for an afternoon!  These two met in school and have so much chemistry and love between them...and the love funnels down to their three sweet and rockin' doggies.  You all look great and it was lovely seeing you!

Katie and Tyler: Lexington Engagement Photos

Hi there.  I am coming off a very busy Saturday and a very lazy Sunday which equals (for me) a frantic Monday.  Saturday we hosted our first photography workshop, Mary's 101.  It went better than I expected!  I was afraid I'd be nervous and completely awkward as I taught.  I was at first.  Then I settled in and went into "I'm a photo nerd and I love talking about this stuff" mode and everything was splendid as I was in my element.  I covered everything from history to camera modes to lighting and posing for beginner photogs.  We are hoping to have another workshop later this year.  Let me know if you are interested!  After the workshop I headed to my good friend Michelle's birthday party.  We painted pots and ate a delicious dinner together.  One might think I would be good at painting something creative on a smallish herb pot.  I stenciled. After this fun filled Saturday, we rested yesterday.  We watched The Fighter and it was excellent.  I laughed a lot during it actually.  The dialogue was hilarious!  The characters were awesome too.

Which leads to today.  I love Mondays.  Most people don't.  I also love rainy days.  Usually, Mondays are a relaxed work day for me.  The week is so hopeful even though the to-do list is quite long.  I go to the gym, sit at the desk, drink coffee, answer emails, blog.  Today seemed frantic though because of the extra long list and because this week is shorter than normal.  I am headed to Ohio tomorrow to see the lovely and talented Jasmine Star speak.  So I've been in go-mode all afternoon.  And now the day ends with a "spill it" blog post.

The best part of the day?  Eating lunch with my sister and making dinner with Gabe.

Below are the rest of Katie and Tyler's engagement pictures.  I used to work with Katie's mom at school and that is how I met her family.  We love Tyler and Katie.  We walked all around downtown and just laughed and talked.  I'd see a spot for photos and we'd have to pause our fun conversation to take their pictures, which we laughed through most of them.  Thanks you all!  You are sweet couple are we walked away from the shoot thinking, "These two are meant for each other!"

My favorite is above!

Loved their coordination.

A Roller Rink and The Big City: Two Lexington Engagement Shoots

Happy Friday!  I have finally finished all of Mary's 101 prep.  PowerPoint and I are BFFs at the moment.  I am really pleased with the way it turned out.  We have a lot of fun tips and pictures share with everyone tomorrow.  It is so exciting that this workshop has materialized.  I have wanted to teach again for awhile so this dream has been a couple years in the making! Before the day is through, I want to post a couple photos from this week's engagement shoots.  We had two.  And here they are:

Mike and Whitney are a fun and lovely couple.  They are naturals in front of the camera.  I think it helps that they are so in love.  Big bonus with this shoot: half of it was at Champs!  More details on their story later.  But for now, the teasers!  And yes, there will be skating pictures next week!

Katie and Tyler are up next.  We felt like we were just walking around with good friends during this shoot.  Katie and I know each other for a couple years and I am very glad she wanted me to shoot her wedding.  We had a lot of fun with you guys!  You are too cute for words so I'll just go ahead and post your photos.

Katie and Eric

I have known Katie since our preteen days.  Our families go way back.  We went to same church when we were little, our brothers are good friends, and our moms play Bunco together.  Actually, Katie and I have been grafted into the Bunco group as "the daughters that are now grown" and we have a grand old time with older, wiser, dice throwing companions/moms.  Katie's brother is getting married this year as well, but Gabe and I aren't able to shoot his wedding.  I am so glad we had Katie's date open! These two met in college a couple years ago and have been dating long distance for most of their relationship.  She is here and he is in Illinois.  Six hours away.  Golly, that would be tough.  While we were shooting I commented on how happy, relaxed and "in-love" their pictures looked.  Katie replied, "Well, it helps that we only get to see each other once a month so we are pretty excited to be together right now!"  Well, yay for absence making the heart grow fonder because these photos look fabulous!

Enjoy!

Not sure what was happening here, but they look so darn cute I thought it was blog worthy.

This one is my fav!

High five for marriage!

Heather and Jack: UK Engagement Shoot

Can I just say, we LOVE Heather and Jack.  You may remember this lovely couple from this post.  They are back for more.  Since the snow cut our first shoot short, we picked back up with part two last week. Now, Heather and Jack are big UK fans.  They met at UK...ish.  Jack met Heather's sister at school and she introduced them.  Anyway, they wanted to shoot at Commonwealth Stadium.  We figured we'd get a few exterior shoots and then head over to our next location.  Well, Gabe and I got to the the stadium a bit earlier to scout out said exterior shots.  We found an open gate!  Gabe and I instantly felt like renegades and texted Heather and Jack to meet us inside the stadium.  We were all like, "We are going to ask for forgiveness rather than permission!"  So in we went and shot til our little hearts were content.  Maybe I could have called earlier and gotten in easily.   Probably.  But sometimes it's fun to live on the edge.

We love you guys...and you rocked it out AGAIN!  Can't wait for this date!

Oh, why are you guys the cutest couple in the world?  PS: This is Gabe's angle.

I think my crazy hat and contributed to my renegade feelings about going in the stadium.  I was incognito.  Look at that trigger finger.  Ready to go!

Heather climbed a tree.

She looked so cute in the tree.

Then Jack climbed the tree.  Love this one.
